 This class for beginners in drawing teaches you to correctly see shapes and translate them to the page, begin to train your hand-eye-coordination, understand perspective, and use drawing tools to effectively indicate textures and shade. We will cover all the basics of drawing to enable you to continue the practice of drawing, with confidence, on your own. We will start with boxes and cubes and move up to more elaborate still lifes.

Topics covered:

-       Continuous contour drawing

-       Sighting tools and perspective

-       Shading and texture

-       Media exploration

-       Drawing with tone

-     Making a strong composition

 Our Instructor, Giselle Harrington, is a freelance illustrator based out of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.  She holds a MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

This class is ideal for beginners looking for an introduction to both drawing and painting; but is also appropriate for those looking to strengthen drawing skills.

 Minimum supplies to bring with you to class: Graphite pencils ranging from 2H to 4B, chamois cloth, white vinyl eraser, large sketchpad and drawing board with clips - large enough to hold sketchpad 

Optional: Charcoals > willow charcoal, a stick of compressed charcoal, stick of General's "White Charcoal" or  pastel, kneaded eraser; pens, or other mark-making tools you would like to try (feel free to ask teacher about them before you buy)

Cost: $150 for 5 classes, 3 hours each
